Markup.io removed its free tier and moved Pro to $79 per month. Some annual customers have reported much steeper increases, and several have written publicly that the choice they were offered was to upgrade or lose access to work they had already delivered.
That last part is the one worth taking seriously. A review tool holds finished client work. If access to it can be switched off, it was never really yours.
So here is our position, stated plainly enough that you can hold us to it. The free plan includes six projects and does not expire. There is no credit card at signup. If you stop paying at any point, your projects stay where they are and stay readable. We will not delete your work to force an upgrade.

Markup was built for one job: leave a comment on a live URL. It does that job well, and if that is the only thing you ever send, it is a reasonable tool.
But most creative work isn’t a URL. A pitch deck isn’t. An email campaign isn’t. A set of social ads isn’t. A lookbook isn’t. Most clients know when something is off. What they usually lack is the vocabulary to say why, so it comes out as a feeling, and you spend a revision round guessing at it.

If the only thing you ever send is a live web page, Markup does that specific job and you already know the workflow. It has been around longer and has a much larger installed base, and if being on the established name is what your clients expect, that carries weight.
Honter is newer and built by a small team. If your procurement process needs a decade-old vendor with a compliance questionnaire on file, we are not that yet.

How switching actually works
There is no automatic import, and we won’t pretend otherwise.
In practice it matters less than it sounds. Upload your active projects, send the new links, and your clients carry on exactly as before, because they never had an account to migrate in the first place. Most people move over across a single afternoon.
